Saudi Arabia: USB Type-C Charging Port Now Mandatory — Phase 2 Extends to Laptops

🇸🇦 CST and SASO have implemented a unified USB Type-C charging port policy for electronic devices sold in Saudi Arabia.

Phase 1 (in force since 1 January 2025): mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, e-readers, portable gaming consoles, headphones, speakers, keyboards, mice, navigation systems and wireless routers must feature a USB Type-C port.

Phase 2 (effective 1 April 2026): the requirement now extends to laptops.

Manufacturers and importers must comply with the SASO IEC 62680 series and update IECEE certification documentation and test reports accordingly — non-compliance may affect certification and market access.
