Telecom Type Approval & Homologation Services
End-to-end regulatory certification for telecom, wireless and IoT equipment across 66+ countries in Africa and the Middle East.
What is Type Approval?
Type approval (also called homologation) is the regulatory certification process confirming that a telecom or radio product meets the national technical standards of a country before it can be imported, sold or operated there. Each market has its own competent authority, procedure, required documents and labelling rules.
RT Solutions manages the entire certification lifecycle, from laboratory coordination and documentation preparation to authority submission and post-approval support.
The Process
- Scope & gap analysis — we review your product, technologies and existing test reports to define the exact approval route per target country.
- Documentation preparation — datasheets, test reports, DoC, label artwork and application forms are compiled to each authority's template.
- In-country testing — when a regulator requires local testing, we coordinate directly with the authority's accredited laboratories.
- Submission & follow-up — application filing, fee handling and follow-up until the certificate is issued.
- Certificate delivery & post-approval — certificate handover and labelling compliance guidance.
Documents Typically Required
- Technical datasheet and product description
- RF / EMC / Safety test reports (CE-RED, FCC or equivalent, ISO 17025)
- User manual and installation guide
- Product photos and label artwork
- Declaration of Conformity

Frequently Asked Questions
A product is already certified, but the manufacturer's name has changed — is recertification needed?
Yes. If the manufacturer's name has changed, a new certificate is required — the existing approval cannot simply be renamed. We manage the new application end-to-end.
Does a hardware, software or reference change require a new certificate?
In many markets, yes. In Tunisia, for example, any modification to the hardware, software or reference of the approved sample requires a new approval certificate. We confirm per country whether your change triggers recertification or a simple update.
Who is the certificate holder?
It depends on the country. In Tunisia, the certificate holder is the local importer: the authorization request is submitted under the importer's name, only they can obtain it from CERT, and they pay the CERT fees — we coordinate the whole flow on their behalf.
Do I need to send product samples?
It varies per authority. In Tunisia, CERT requires one radiated (testable) sample that actually transmits, plus CE test reports — CERT then tests all technologies supported by the sample. In Algeria, ANF verifies the supported frequency bands with a spectrum analyzer, so a standard production sample is sufficient as long as it radiates. Many other markets require no sample at all.
Can existing CE or FCC test reports be reused?
Usually — most regulators in Africa and the Middle East accept CE-RED or FCC reports from ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratories as the technical basis for approval, which avoids re-testing. Where in-country testing applies (e.g. CERT in Tunisia), we coordinate it directly with the authority's laboratory.
